2026 Outings AND EVENTS

About Our Outings

  • The current outings chairperson is Dick Snow who is a wonderful resource if you have any questions.
  • Attending a meeting is a great way to learn the details of these outings or connect with the club on WhatsApp to ask questions.
  • The dates are not prescriptive--many folks arrive on different days and leave at their convenience.
  • Trips are typically 'no host'. This means you are invited to join a trip but you are responsible for all arranging your own food, lodging, gear, etc. If there is a provided meal (for club members only) this will be called out for that specific outing.
  • Anyone in the club is welcome to add an outing to the list.

March 2026 - Lake Lenice and Coffee Pot Lake

Lake Lenice - Feb 28 to March 2

  • Camping is available near the lake (note is a basic gravel parking lot) or split a rental house nearby with other members.
  • You need to be able to transport your boat a bit under 1/2 mile to the lake. Many members use carts and similar setups.
  • Often has excellent chironomid fishing.

Coffeepot Lake - March 19 to March 22

  • Camping is available at the lake or there are some limited lodging in the area (Odessa for example).
  • An interesting lake in an impressive basalt canyon.

April 2026 - Morgan/6-Mile, Aeneas Lake, and General Lakes Opener

Morgan/6-Mile - April 8 to April 11

Aeneas Lake - April 25 to April 26, also April 30

General Lake Opener

A lot of lakes will open on the 4th Saturday in April and provide dozens of fishing opportunities. Ask at club meeting, or connect with us on WhatsApp, for tips and updates on any of these lakes you are interested in checking out.

May 2026 - Big Twin Lake, Whitetail, and General River Opener

Big Twin and the Methow Valley - May 1 to May 3

If you are going to attend an outing this year, this is one of the best opportunities to learn about lake fly fishing.

  • Big Twin Lake is the main event for many but we also do side trips to the other excellent lakes nearby.
  • You can camp at the Big Twin Campground or there are many other options nearby

Whitetail - May 8 to May 12

TBD on the details of this trip.

General River Opener - Saturday before Memorial Day

Most of our rivers that aren't open year-round will open at the end of May. Fishing can be good this time of year...if the river levels cooperate.

June 2026 - Official Outings TBD

No trip in June yet so if you'd like to host something in June let us know. Higher elevation lakes are starting to warm up in June and many rivers will be getting into shape as the snow runoff slows (especially for east side rivers).

July - Idaho

Idaho - July 10 to July 15

TBD on the details of this trip.

August - Bitterroot River

Bitterroot River - August 3 to August 8

TBD on the details of this trip.

September 2026 - Georgetown Lake and West Yellowstone

Georgetown Lake  - September 14 to September 17

TBD on the details of this trip.

West Yellowstone - September 18 to September 24

TBD on the details of this trip.

October 2026 - Big Twin Lake and Round Lake

Big Twins - Dates TBD

  • A very similar trip to the sprint outing to Big Twin but fishing can be just and good, or even better.

Round Lake - October 1 to October 4

TBD on the details of this trip.

Creating your own outing?
